WHEN A MOVE TO QUEENSLAND PAYS OFF BIG TIME

Two runners who saluted at Eagle Farm on Saturday have highlighted what a change of scenery can do in terms of revitalising a horse’s form and redirecting them onto a positive path moving forward.

Both the Jack Bruce trained Everybody Rise and the Garnett Taylor trained Neverenoughlego made it five wins in a row since relocating to Queensland from New South Wales and Victoria respectively … and, not only that, these two runners remain unbeaten in their collective ten starts in the Sunshine State.

That is quite an incredible turnaround on both counts.

Everybody Rise had previously had thirteen starts for two trainers without a win. Now he is five from five for Bruce … and he has been winning in comfortable fashion, with only one of his five wins coming by less than a 1.30 length margin.

Neverenoughlego had previously raced eleven times for the Ben, Will and JD Hayes stable without a win (he did finish second five times). He is now five from five for Taylor and, like Everybody Rise, has been winning well, whether having something in hand or having to fight for the victory.

Bruce gave some insight into Everybody Rise’s improvement.

“He had a bit of a bad run of things in New South Wales. He hadn’t been able to crack it down there, but since he’s come north the win has given him confidence and he has just been able to go on,” said Bruce.

‘I think it is true once they get a win, they get a bit of confidence. You know, life has become good for him. It’s probably a bit easier up here. With the drop down in grade he’s found win one, he’s found win two and more. He’s doing things right and, to be honest, that (Saturday’s win) was the most impressive performance for me, so far … to see him able to conserve a little bit of energy and still be strong late.

“He’s done a good job. It’s great to get five in a row.”
