JIMMY ORMAN IS BACK IN TOWN

Three-time Brisbane Jockey’s Premiership winner Jimmy Orman will make a welcome return to Eagle Farm on Saturday, albeit on just a short stay as he gets himself into shape for the start of the Hong Kong racing season.

Orman was the dominant rider in Brisbane before taking up what was initially a short-term riding contract in Hong Kong in February 2025. That contract was extended and, with Orman continuing to grow into his new role, his efforts were rewarded with a Hong Kong Riding License for the full 2026/27 racing season.

That season kicks off on September 6 at Sha Tin at Orman will be there with the goal of improving on the impressive haul of thirty-two winners he claimed last season but, for now, he is back in the saddle on the local scene, building fitness and keeping his eye in while the Hong Kong season is on its annual break.

Orman, who was leading the Brisbane Premiership at the time he moved to Hong Kong after taking out the title in three successive seasons before that, has been booked for six rides at Eagle Farm for six different trainers … Matthew Dunn (Think Like Paddy – race 1, The Annabel and Rob Archibald training partnership (Lennox – race 2), Adam Campton (Manpower – race 5 – a last start winner), the Chris and Corey Munce training partnership (High Dandy – race 7), Kelly Schweida (Facundo – race 8 – a last start winner) and Tony Gollan (Tenzing in race 9).
