THERE IS JUST NO STOPPING KA YING RISING

By Graham Potter | Monday, April 6, 2026

There is just no stopping Ka Ying Rising … and, such is the aura of the champion, nobody expects anything otherwise.

At Sha Tin on Sunday, the David Hayes trained son of Shamexpress extended his record breaking winning sequence to nineteen straight victories and, while on face value this might be difficult to process, instead of each next step getting more difficult, as you might expect, Ka Ying Rising just continues to win with consummate ease and with more than a touch of arrogance which is quite befitting of a runner performing on such a higher level than his opponents.

In this latest win in the HK$5.35 million G2 Sprint Cup, which was contested over 1200m, Ka Ying Rising comfortably tracked the leader Stellar Express into the home straight … then moved up without any undue effort to race up to, alongside and past the early frontrunner coming through the 300m mark … before leaving Stellar Express all of the chasing pack for dead, pulling clear at the head of affairs with the minimum of fuss in quite breathtaking fashion, visually making it look like little more than a strong trackwork gallop.

It was more than that, of course, as Ka Ying Rising set a new track record for the Sha tin 1200m.

The fact that Ka Ying Rising won, easing up, by a 4.25 length margin from Hugh Bowman and Helios Express, who had a favourable 5kg weight turnaround with Ka Ying Rising compared to when they last clashed, says it all.

The pressure apart, it was another easy armchair ride by Zac Purton who, in a fly-in, fly-out visit, was successful at Randwick on Saturday where he partnered Chidiac to victory in the $1million Evergreen Turf Country Championship Final for trainers Brett and Georgie Cavanough.

Ka Ying Rising will now go to the 1200m Chairman’s Sprint Prize on FWD Champions Day at Sha Tin on April 26, a race which he landed with similar contemptuous ease last season.
