WONDERFULLY MADE CRUISES TO WA OAKS WIN

The Daniel Morton trained Wonderfully Made cruised to an impressive win in the Group 3 WA Oaks over 2200m at Ascot, taking no prisoners in the home straight to demolish her rivals in emphatic fashion, passing the post a with daylight between herself and the tight battle for the minor placing.
“I was sort of confident with the amount of work we’ve been able to get into her that she would get it right … she is bred for it, she is tailormade for it," said Morton.
“It was an absolutely gun ride by Lucy (Fiore) today. She just took the bull by the horns. It was a ten out of ten.”
Wonderfully Made had saluted in similar confident fashion in the Listed 1000 Guineas two starts back over 1800m as a roaring $1.65 favourite, but then came unstuck, when again quoted at the prohibitive odds of $1.50 as the short-priced favourite in her follow-up run in the 2200m Natasha Stakes.
There as a reason for that hiccup as Morton explained.
“It was her first time out to a journey (2200m) and Pikey (William Pike) was a bit concerned that she wouldn’t settle enough, so we elected to go back that day, and the speed just came out of the race so it didn’t work for us,” said Morton.
Morton confirmed post-race that, all being well, the daughter of Playing God will now head to the Group 2 WATC Derby on April 11.
“She’s obviously not chasing fitness now, which is a luxury,” said Morton.
“We’ll get her back in cotton wool and look after her.”
