JIGSAW SLOTS INTO THE QUOKKA VERY NICELY

Only five slots remain available for the $5 million Quokka, Western Australia’s richest race which will be contested at Ascot on April 18.

The Cindy Alderson trained Jigsaw is the latest runner to slot into the field with slot-holder Ladbrokes securing the son of Manhattan Rain to represent their interests in the race.

The seven-year-old could not be heading west in any richer vein of form having posted no less than six wins in a row, a run of results which includes two Group 1 wins in two countries … in the Group 1 Railway over 1200m at Ellerslie in New Zealand and the Group 1 William Reid over 1200m at Caulfield.

Other notable wins were in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley and the $1 million Meteorite over 1200m at Cranbourne.

This hot run of form has not only highlighted Jigsaw’s high level of ability but also showcased his versatility … those six wins have come at four different tracks … and his tolerance for travelling with Jigsaw seemingly taking the trip to New Zealand well in his stride.

All of that ticks so many boxes in terms of any consideration of undertaking a trip to Western Australia to take up a new challenge in the Quokka, particularly as Jigsaw has proven himself over the Quokka race distance of 1200m on so many occasions with all of his current six run winning sequence being achieved over that trip.

The five slot holders still playing their cards close to their chest and who have yet to close the deal on a runner are … Peters Investments, RAM Racing Syndicate #2, Rapid Equine Breeding, Seacorp / Hallowell and Trucking Nominees / Morton Racing.
