THE VERY USEFUL WINNERS TAKE OUT THE THREE FEATURE RACES AT MORPHETTVILLE

By Graham Potter | Saturday, March 28, 2026

The three feature races at Morphettville on Saturday all produced winners well worth a second glance as Never Ordinary, Shadhavar and Stung all completed back-to-back wins in their respective races.

The aptly named Never Ordinary, took out the Listed Dequetteville Stakes over 1050m … a set weights race for two-year-olds … with her successive wins taking her career record to two wins from three starts … her only defeat coming when she had to settle for second best behind Rebel Tuesday on debut when only touched off by 0.12 lengths.

The Byron Cozamanis trained daughter of Dirty Work started as the clear race favourite in the Dequetteville at $1.40 … in from $1.55 … under Rochelle Milnes, who has ridden the filly in all of her starts, and won by a one length margin from the $8 chance Verzain who has now finished as runner-up in both of her two career starts.

Next, Shadhavar won the Listed Matrice Stakes over 1200m … making it two feature race wins in a row after landing the Magic Millions SA 3 & 4YO Classic over 1200m in impressive style at Murray Bridge in her previous start by a clearcut 2.33 lengthy margin.

The Tom Dabernig trained daughter of Pride Of Dubai was another runner on the day who kept the followers of favourites in a good frame of mind.

The four-year-old chestnut started at $2.35 and saluted by neat one length margin. She was partnered by Jacob Opperman, who was also in the saddle when Shadhaver triumphed in the Magic Millions SA 3 & 4YO Classic.
In her six starts to date this season … which kicked off with four runs at Caulfield … Shadhavar has scored three wins and been placed second twice.

One race after Shadhavar’s win, Stung chimed in with her second win in her last two starts when proving too strong for her rivals in the Listed Claire Lindop Stakes.

The three-year-old, Ben, Will and J D Hayes trained daughter of Dundeel had won first-up over 1400m in her previous start and took the step up to the 1600m trip here in comfortable fashion to secure the win by a 1.75 length margin at what proved to be generous odds of $6.

Stung was ridden by Luke Currie.

Stung is busy building a progressive form-line having now won three of her four career starts.

The only time she was beaten was when she finished fifth when raising the bar significantly in only her second start in the Group 2 Fillies Classic over 1600m at Moonee Valley.

That race was won by Salty Pearl, who finished a close-up third in the Group 1 Vinery at Rosehill on Saturday.
Never Ordinary, Shadhavar and Stung … three worthy feature race winners.
