ROBBIE DOLAN COULD KICK OFF THE MASSIVE EAGLE FARM MEETING ON A HIGH NOTE

By Graham Potter | Thursday, May 26, 2022

Jockey Robbie Dolan could kick off the massive Eagle Farm meeting on a high note on Saturday.

The rider, who has captured the imagination of music fans with his singing performances in his recent appearances on The Voice, would have good cause to celebrate if he can guide the perhaps apply named Gin Martini to victory in the Group 2 The Roses which starts the day’s racing action.

The John Sargent trained chestnut filly finished third in the AJC Oaks over 2400m on very heavy going in her second last start coming home just under three lengths behind the winner El Patroness and only 0.40 of a length behind the second placed Gypsy Goddess.

That is already an excellent form reference coming into Saturday’s race and the New Zealand bred did little wrong in her last start as well. That was back over the 1800m trip in the Listed Bracelet at the Gold Coast.

Although she had to settle for fourth place on that occasion, she was less than two lengths off the winner, Dynasties, and the three-week freshen up should have ready to have every chance of adding to her race record of two wins and five minor placings from twelve starts.

It is Dolan’s only ride for the day.

If you do like Dolan to get the job done here, you will really like the $12 currently on offer for Gin Martini in, what appears to be, a very open race.
