I’m Ruthless had been luckless in New South Wales finishing in second place on no less than five occasions in eleven starts. The son of Redoute’s Choice made no mistake in his first outing in Queensland sitting back off the speed early before taking a leisurely romp to the lead in the home straight before drawing away to win by 4.80 lengths.

WINNER FEEDBACK:
Trainer Troy Hall: “Yeah, the same owners raced him down there. We just thought we’d bring him up here and get his mind right. Typical Damian Browne ride ... cool, calm and collected. Now we’ll take the horse to the city and see where we go from there.”

Jockey Damian Browne: “It had good form in Sydney. It was just far too superior for them on the day. He’s a very nice type and I think it will improve a little bit too. Look, he looked the winner on paper. He looked the part in the parade ring and he did the job.

“It’s easy to do it like that when you are on those sort of horses, mate. I just rode him like the best horse in the field ... which he was ... and he duly obliged.”

Sturt County (J. Kropp) was slow to begin. Coconut Lass (M. Hellyer), which was slow to begin, was tightened for room shortly after the start between Sturt County (J. Kropp), which shifted out after being slowly away, and Flaming Silk, (K. Pope), which was taken in by Dually (C. Priest). Flaming Silk raced greenly in the early and middle stages.
