TYRONE COYLE QUALIFIES THE ONLY HORSE HE HAS IN WORK FOR THE PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

By Graham Potter | Wednesday, March 31, 2021

The story behind Prince Aurelius, the winner of the Provincial Championships Wyong Qualifier on Saturday, is quite an incredible tale as it relates to trainer Tyrone Coyle.

The Kemble Grange based trainer only has one horse in his care and he managed to qualify it for the Provincial Championship Final at Randwick in no uncertain terms when the four-year-old gelding comprehensively beat home a trio of Kris Lees trained runners at Gosford on Saturday after the Wyong Qualifier had been switched to the Gosford track.

The Lees runners were the top three on the betting boards while Prince Aurelius, who was ridden by Robbie Brewer, starting at $13.

Underlining just how good a job Coyle is doing with Prince Aurelius, the son of Love Conquers All has now run up an unbeaten sequence of four straight wins, a runs of victories he will be looking to extend on his big day out at Randwick.

Those wins have come at four different racetracks (Moruya, Wagga, Kembla Grange, Gosford over three different distances (1200m, 1425m and 1600m).

Price Aurelius current stake earnings stand at $137 450, coming from five wins from only ten starts.

Added further spice to Coyle’s involvement in the final is that he is also the co-owner of Prince Aurelius and that means he will be racing for an even bigger financial reward should Prince Aurelius do well at Randwick where the first prize is $270 000.

The Kim Waugh trained Great News is currently the ruling favourite for the Provincial Championship final.

Prince Aurelius is a $17 chance.
