COUNTRY MILE RACE SERIES UPDATE

Three of the five heats for the Country Mile Race Series for Victorian country trainers have now been completed. The five heats, all worth $75,000, will see the first three placegetters through to the final which will be held on the same card as the $5 million All-Star Mile at Moonee Valley on March 13 The final will be worth $250,000.

The list of runners who have already booked their place in the Country Mile Series Grand Final are:

From the Colac heat – Jazz Star, Fiorente Lass and Rewarding Ruby.

From Swan Hill – The Moors, Glassey Miss. *Spanish Snitzel, who finished second in the Swan Hill heat, has been disqualified from the final because of his jockey’s whip rule breach in the heat. Young Hostess finished fourth in the race.

From Ballarat – Intellective, Indispensable, Maximak.

Warrnambool trainer Matthew Williams currently is the only trainer to have two runners going to the final … Intellective and Fiorente Miss … while some jockeys might have a choice to make moving forward with the likes of Joe Bowditch, Tatum Bull and Dean Yendall all already having guided two runners into the final.

The final two heats will take place at Pakenham and Wangaratta later this week on Thursday and Saturday respectively.
