FOUR OUT OF FOUR FOR TONY GOLLAN AT DOOMBEN

By Graham Potter | Saturday, February 13, 2021

Leading trainer Tony Gollan had a field day at Doomben on Saturday where his stable contested four races and came away with four winners.

Three of those winners started very short-priced favourites and they won accordingly with Leadership Spill ($1.90), Miami Fleiss ($1.30) and Garibaldi ($1.80) winning by 2.25 lengths, 3.50 lengths and 4.50 lengths respectively. Gollan’s other winner Socialising also started favourite but at the more likable odds of $3.40.

The chances are that all of these Gollan winners are likely to go on with it.

Leadership Spill won first up to take his record to three wins from ten starts and he has only been out of the placings on two occasions. As a lightly raced four-year-old he seems sure to have more improvement to come.

Miami Fleiss is being touted as Gollan’s new star on the block after winning both of her two career starts by wide margins with a touch of arrogance. Notwithstanding the immediate impact she has had when stepping out onto the track, the three-year-old filly is clearly still learning her trade and it will be very interesting to see how she develops as she gains more experience.

Garibaldi continues to go from strength to strength. He is currently building up an impressive winning sequence which now stands at four straight wins and each of his passing wins have been more emphatic than his previous win.

Socialising too was putting back-to-back wins together landing career win number seven.

These four runners represent only a very small percentage of the Gollan’s stable armoury, but Saturday’s performances underlined that they are clearly are playing their part towards contributing to the stable’s on-going success which once again has it sitting all alone, way out on top of the Brisbane trainer’s Premiership table.
