WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, JUNE 25

By Darren Winningham | Friday, June 24, 2016

We are back to Eagle Farm this week for Tatt's Tiara day and another ten race program. Looks like it will be a dead to slow track.

The fence is out 6m the entire course.

I am not sure what effect this will have on the runners but it would pay to watch the first few races to see where they are winning from. I think late in the program you should look for horses that race handy to the lead.

*As this form assessment was made prior to raceday, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day.

Race 1

Looks like a tough race to start us off. Some early market support for Treasure Gallery (9), Snow Fields (13) and Savanna Amour (15) should be noted. Reward for Riches (4), from the Munce yard, has drawn wide in barrier 14 but has won two from two impressively. Fallen for You (3) is a maiden but my opinion is that on a bigger track it should be competitive as well. The other Chris Munce runner, Snow Fields (13) ran well in the Lancaster Stakes and is coming back in class here – has the addition of blinkers as well. Treasure Gallery (9) ran close to the speed last start the Gold Coast and could be a rough chance here.

Selections: 4-13-3-9 rough chance the 15.

Race 2

Another open field here with many chances. I really do not like the race. Flamboyer (3) likes the sting out of the track so it has conditions to suit. I Am The Sculptor (16) has been racing in inferior company and has a weight drop and will be sure to be flashing late. Punta Norte (5) from the Heathcote stables has a good second-up record. But seriously anything could bob up here.

Selections: 3-16-5-14 rough chances 4 and 11.

Race 3

Hopfgarten (1) was impressive last start from a wide barrier when getting across and leading all the way. I am going wide for my other selections here giving chances to Tales of Grimm (3) and Electric Power (7) who should both like the firmer track this week. Beckham (6) is on a quick back up after running a good second last week in the Eye Liner at Ipswich.

Selections: 1-3-7-2.

*******************************************************************************************************

Race 4

Telepathic (10) missed the start last run and was never a chance. If it can get away it will be the one to beat here. Shotover River (9) has been racing consistently and has a great record when it is third up, winning three times. Pajaro (1) is racing reliably and has the services of Blake Shinn again this week.

Selections: 10-1-9-5.

Race 5

Another race with numerous chances. I am going for some lightly raced ones here that have shown some promise and who get in with some light weights. I like Bidii Babe (13) and Gregory (14). Both who won last start impressively. Hardline (2) is the best runner in the race but has some weight to carry – with Luke Dittman aboard it is sure to make a late run at the leaders. He has won second up as well. Wine Barrell (12) was hampered in the straight last start and Tarzan (10) has the addition of blinkers. It is a tough race!
`
Selections: 13-14-2-10 rough chance 6 and 12.

Race 6 – Tattersall’s Cup (Group 3)

Benzini (2) rises sharply in the weights here after dominating in the Brisbane Cup (Group 2). Tucanchoo (7) looks an up and coming, good young stayer from the Hawkes team in Sydney and will provide the testing material here. The Chris Waller trained Junoob (1) stormed home late last start. Malice (4) is running over the distance for the first time.

Selections: 2-7-4-1.

*******************************************************************************************************

Race 7 - Wintergarden Stakes

Charnley River (1) ran a super race behind the exciting New Zealand rising star Sacred Elixir last start – it was drawn badly that day and was forced to race wide. This week is has drawn well and has the services of its regular rider Damian Browne. Cellarman (3) is still a maiden but looks like it will enjoy the step up to 1400m here. Emphatically (8) has been up a while but is trained by the astute Ciaron Maher and this could be its grand final before being tipped out for a spell – Nicholas Hall has the ride. Brulee (10) from the Peter Robl stable looks a rough chance as well.

Selections: 1-3-8-10 rough chance 7.

*******************************************************************************************************

Race 8 – Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (Group 1)

The last Group 1 race in Brisbane for the Carnival. This year a fine group of fillies and mares are here to contest the race. Azkadellia (1) had no luck in the Stradbroke being caught in the worst part of the track and really was not able to finish off the race as we have seen her do in the past. There has been good support for Azkadellia since the early markets opened firming from $2.90 to $2.30. Danish Twist (2) has been racing in fine fettle winning her last four starts. Cradle Me (4) seems like a real war horse winning its last start here at Eagle Farm over the 1400m. Artistry (11) ran an honest race last start when beaten by Cradle Me – but does meet her slightly worse at the weights here. Does have the addition of winkers for the first time. Blueberry Hill (15) is on a short back up after winning the Gai Waterhouse Classic at Ipswich last weekend.

Selections 4-2-1-11 rough chances 5 and 15.

******************************************************************************************************

Race 9 – W.J Healy Stakes (Group 3)

I think that if Tina Melina (6) can settle in the barriers and jump cleanly this could be the race for her. However, if coming to this race they are leading and winning you will need to consider Hotel Drive (12) and That’s a Good Idea (1) who should be racing handy. Mogador (11) flashed home last start and looks well weighted here to be ridden by South African Robbie Fradd. Into the Red (2) races well when his races are spaced and with three weeks between runs it should be making its presence out wide in the last 100m of the race. There is a strong tip around for the Victorian Odyssey Moon (8) and it has been well supported in early markets being backed from $7 to $5 – personally I think the horse loves a wet track.

Selections 6-11-2-1 rough chance 8 and 12.

*******************************************************************************************************

Race 10 – Daybreak Lover (Group 3)

Tsaritsa (1) was super impressive in the Guineas two weeks ago destroying her rivals – she has a super record with four wins from seven starts. I am just wondering whether by race 10 the horses will need to be near the lead here to win. Perfect Dare (3) usually races close to the lead as does Salmanazar (7) and these two being on the pace maybe hard to run down. Sold for Song (9) has drawn a barrier finally in this race and should be ridden a lot closer than it has been in recent starts by Jimmy Orman. Flirtatious Femme (11) has been successful in both its career starts to date and steps up in grade here. I am wondering how Sagaronne (8) may go here – she is a promising filly out of the smart Toby Edmonds stable on the Gold Coast. Last start she bucked at the start and finished tailed off – she has had a gear change of blinkers on for this run. Maybe a real rough chance in this field.

Selections 1-9-3-7 rough chances 8 and 11.

******************************************************************************************************

Quaddie (races 5,6,7,8) 1, 3, 8, 10 / 1, 2, 4, 11 / 1, 2, 6, 8, 11 / 1, 3, 7, 8, 9 - cost $400 for $1

Treble (races 6,7,8) 1, 2, 4 / 1, 2, 6, 11 / 1, 3, 7, 9 - cost will be $48 for $1

Small Quaddie (races 5,6,7,8) 1, 3, 10 / 1, 2, 4 / 6, 11 / 1, 3, 7,9 - cost $72 for $1

Madness Quaddie 1, 10 / 2, 4 / 6, 11 / 1, 7, 9 - cost $24 for $1

Jockey Challenge this week Well this week I have Jim Byrne and Hugh Bowman both finishing on 9 points. As NSW haven’t had a win this week I will split them by tipping Hugh Bowman! That will probably result in Jimmy winning now!
