ANGELA JONES HEADING FOR INTERNATIONAL JOCKEYS' CHALLENGE IN SAUDI ARABIA

History making jockey Angela Jones will add another new and exciting chapter to her resume when she takes her place in the lineup for the for the 2026 Diriyah International Jockeys’ Challenge at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh on February 13.

Jones who scored that historic Brisbane Jockeys Premiership last season when becoming the first female to land that honour, will be part of the seven men and seven women four-race International Jockeys’ Challenge series on the Friday of the two-day meeting which is highlighted by the US20 million Saudi Cup on Saturday February 14.

It is a truly international lineup with Jones joining the likes of UK riders Holly Doyle and Saffie Osborne, France’s Marie Velon, and America’s Forest Boyce. Frida Valle-Skar and Nina Baltromei complete the woman’s lineup.

Local jockey Mohammed Aldaham will be to defend his crown. He is joined in the male contingent by Mickael Barzalona, Dylan Browne McMonagle, Luis Morales, Flavien Prat, Keita Tosaki and Billy Loughnane.

The Saudi Cup, worth US$20 million is the richest race in the world and the prize-money on offer of the two days is US$39.6 million.
