WARWOVEN MAKES AN EARLY STATEMENT

Trainer Bjorn Baker has another good two-year-old in his stable.
That fact became very apparent when Warwoven, who had won his only official trial twelve days earlier, scored a most impressive debut win when taking out a Two-Year-Old Plate over 1000m at Randwick on December 20, 2025.
It was a faultless performance by the debutant, who started second favourite at $3.40 behind the main fancy Shiki ($1.80). Shiki was already a winner having taken out the Group 3 Gimcrack in her first start two-and-a-half months earlier … and she was the only runner in the seven-strong field who had tasted race action before.
Shiki speared out of the gates and was off and running from the break and she continued to pile on the pressure mid-race, pulling all of five lengths clear by the time the field straightened for home.
Warwoven had moved in third place approaching the home turn and by the 300m mark he was the one leading the chase with a three-and-a-half length deficit to make up.
Warwoven gradually brought that margin down and, unlike Shiki, he was full of running when he ranged alongside the long-time leader with 80m left to run, and such was the momentum he carried into that challenge, Warwoven ran right away from all opposition over the concluding stages to score and emphatic win by a 2.25 length margin … the $82 500 winning stake-earnings being a useful first return on the owners $360 000 investment … and, more importantly, earning the Baker trained runner a place in the $3 million Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic … a race which Baker won last year with O’Ole.
