You will have to go a long way to see a win as easy as this.

The Bjorn Baker trained Warwoven’s win in QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap over 1200m at Eagle Farm on January 3 in his second career start was delivered with the same authority with which the son of Sword Of State ticked off his debut win at Randwick over 1000m two weeks earlier.

Not quite a cakewalk … but pretty close to it.

Starting at the restrictive odds at $1.60 in the six horse field, the Baker trained colt jumped well enough with Rachel King then content to settle Warwoven in fourth place, then third place in the first half of the race, holding the rail position a little over two lengths off the leader, the $18 chance Bollente Bella, and just a length off Seductra ($91) who was tracking Bollente Bella in second place.

Tim Clark, riding the second favourite Lumbini who had been racing just back on the outside of Warwoven early on, tried to sneak closer, to not only improve the filly’s position, but also to prevent any possible move from Warwoven to shift out wider for a clear run in the approach to the home turn … but King did not even consider that option, instead maintaining that inside line before taking the split between Bollente Bella and Seductra which allowed Warwoven to surge into the lead with the minimum of fuss. WARWOVEN'S WIN CEMENTS HIS PLACE AS THE MM 2YO CLASSIC FAVOURITE. IT WAS JUST TWO EASY. (JANUARY 3, 2026)

Amor Victorious is probably an apt a name as any for a horse that takes a trainer to one hundred stakes winners … and that is exactly what Amor Victorious did when he helped carry Bjorn Baker to that landmark victory when he saluted in the Listed Members’ Mile over 1600m at Eagle Farm on December 27, 2025.

The race was fought out by the two horses at the top of the betting boards with Amor Victorious starting at $2.40, narrowly ahead of his market rival Miss Joelene ($2.90) … and the contest came down to a driving finish between these two main fancies with only a diminishing 0.11 lengths separating the winner Amor Victorious from the faster finishing Miss Joelene.

Amor Victorious came into the race on the back of a creditable effort in the Group 2 The Ingham over 1600m at Randwick on December 13. He did finish unplaced on that occasion but was only a little under three lengths behind the very smart winner, Yorkshire, who is a winner of eight of his eleven starts.

Amor Victorious does have a Group 2 to his name, having taken out the Shannon Stakes back in September 2024. Read more ...

Having expectations can be very much a double-edged sword in the racing game. On a good day it feeds into the enthusiasm and the excitement of moment. On a bad day it devastates hopes and leaves aspirations out floating in the wind with nowhere to go.

For the connections of the Bjorn Baker trained Paradoxium the bad day arrived over the festive season when their Wyong Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic winner was not only withdrawn from his next scheduled assignment … The Group 3 B J McLachlan at Eagle Farm on December 27 … but was, more disappointingly, ruled out of the lucrative $3 million Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic at the Gold Coast on Janaury 17, having suffered travel sickness when making the trip to Queensland and then contracting pneumonia. PARADOXIUM RULED OUT OF MAGIC MILLIONS (DECEMBER 26, 2025)

Trainer Bjorn Baker has another good two-year-old in his stable.

That fact became very apparent when Warwoven, who had won his only official trial twelve days earlier, scored a most impressive debut win when taking out a Two-Year-Old Plate over 1000m at Randwick on December 20, 2025.

It was a faultless performance by the debutant, who started second favourite at $3.40 behind the main fancy Shiki ($1.80). Shiki was already a winner having taken out the Group 3 Gimcrack in her first start two-and-a-half months earlier … and she was the only runner in the seven-strong field who had tasted race action before. WARWOVEN MAKES AN EARLY STATEMENT (DECEMBER 20, 2025)
________________________________________________________________________

Chances are Bjorn Baker will be booking a flight and accommodation at the Gold Coast in the days leading up to Magic Millions race-day this time around, which will give him a couple of days breathing space before the running of the Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic in which he will be defending his crown.

Last year, Baker was caught out when his flight from Sydney was delayed on the morning of raceday, and he ended up listening to the big race commentary of the win of his runner O’Ole in a taxi on the way to the track. Baker had the O’Ole silks with him which left the Ole Kirk filly having to trace in club colours.

Make no mistake. Baker will take the result anytime, wherever he might be … and he certainly never loses any time in getting the celebrations underway, but easing into the big day after a good night’s sleep and a short drive to the track is always the preferable option. Read more ...
