JAMIE MELHAM HANDED A THIRTY MEETING SUSPENSION

Stewards have completed their inquiry into the circumstance surrounding Blake Shinn’s fall his mount She’s Got Pizzazz in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes at Flemington on November 4 … Melbourne Cup Day.

The outcome of the inquiry is that Jamie Melham has been suspended for thirty meetings after pleading guilty to a careless riding charge in that she shifted out at the 200m mark when riding Fanciful, causing interference to She’s Got Pizzaz who was ‘bumped and stumbled’ resulting in the Shinn being dislodged.

Just an hour-and-a-half before that Melham had reached the pinnacle of her career when partnering Half Yours to victory in the Melbourne Cup.

Melham’s suspension will run from November 16 to December 17.

Shinn suffered a broken tibia and fibula in his left leg in the incident and has since had a rod inserted in his leg.

It is still to be determined how long Shinn will be out of action.
