MELODY BELLE NOW ON THE SCOREBOARD AS A MUM

Lyrics ‘N’ Song might have a long way to go to emulate her famous mother, but the chestnut filly gave the notebook a nudge with an eye-catching victory in the Challenge Plate over 1200m at Cranbourne on Friday night.
Lyrics ‘N’ Song is the first foal of Melody Belle, who has been a winner in every sphere of the racing world.
Melody Belle won 14 Group 1 races in a career that encompassed a total of 19 victories from forty-one starts, in the process accumulating just over $4 million in prize-money.
When her racing career came to an end, Melody Belle was sold to Yulong Investments for $2.6 million completing a very nice return for her original set of owners after Te Akau’s David Ellis had originally purchased Melody Belle for $57 000 from the Karaka Yearling Sales. The horse was then syndicated by Te Akau’s associate Fortuna.
And now she is a broodmare with a winner on the books, first up no less, with Lyrics And Song saluting with ease by a clearcut 2,25 length margin in her second career start, after finishing as runner-up on her debut at the beginning of this month
Yulong Investments did offer Lyrics And Song for sale at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale last year, but decided to keep her after she failed to reach the reserve price of $700 00.
Lyrics ‘N’ Song is trained by Mark Walker and she has been ridden in both of her starts by Michael Dee.
