JONES WINS THE BRISBANE JOCKEY'S PREMIERSHIP
By Graham Potter | Wednesday, July 30, 2025
Angela Jones has won the Brisbane Jockeys Premiership, creating history as the first female rider to take out the title.
Jones went into the final day of the metropolitan season at Doomben today with a two-win lead over Emily Lang, but it was only after race seven, as the clock ticked towards 3.30pm with only two races and a little over an hour of the metropolitan season left to run, that the Premiership was finally done and dusted with Jones putting her name into the record books.
At that stage of the meeting neither rider had been able to add to their score but Lang had now run out of time to make up lost ground.
Such was the intensity of the battle between these two riders over the concluding weeks of the season that their names will forever be linked together.
One has come away with the title, but seldom has the accolades been as loud and long for the runner-up.
So it is, that the curtain finally comes down on the spirited two-way battle for the 2024/25 Premiership challenge to a round of thunderous applause.
It has just been great for racing.
