The investigation into the physical altercation which occurred between jockeys Noel Callow and Kyle Wilson-Taylor at a midweek meeting at Doomben had a sequel today when the official steward’s inquiry into the incident was reconvened with evidence submitted and assessed culminating in a charge being laid.
Stewards charged Callow with improper conduct with Callow pleading guilty to the charge.
A penalty was not handed down at the end of the day’s proceedings. Because of the serious nature of the charge, Stewards allowed Callow and extra day to enter any submissions on the pending penalty.
Callow did not provide evidence on the day of the incident as he left the track to get medical advice. At the time he was immediately stood down from riding for a twelve-day period under concussion protocols. He has not ridden since then.
At the same hearing Kyle Wilson-Taylor was cleared by stewards with Wilson-Taylor being advised he would not face any charges.
Wilson-Taylor has continued to ride since the incident.
He will partner Payline in the Group 1, $3 million Stradbroke Handicap on Saturday.
