When the pace steps up in Hong Kong Racing … so does Darren Winningham!

Winno is one of Hong Kong Racing’s biggest fans and another chapter will be added this week to his ever enthusiastic and insightful coverage over many years of the FWD Champions Day and the Longines Hong Kong International Races.

Winno, as always on assignment for HRO, is on the ground in Hong Kong and is ready to roll off a supply of stories, photos, videos and selections over the coming days which will be well worth following.

Prime focus of attention is the 2025 Hong Kong FWD Champion’s Day, held at Sha Tin on Sunday, April 27, which features three Group 1 races … the FWD QEII Cup, the FWD Champions Mile and the Chairman's Sprint Prize.

With the absence of the Hong Kong Champion Romantic Warrior, who has been competing in Dubai, it leaves the gate open for another Hong Kong local to be crowned a Group 1 winner in the FWD QEII Cup – worth HK$28 million.

This meeting has unearthed some wonderful winners over the years – horses like Golden Sixty, Beauty Generation, Exultant, Able Friend, Wellington, Designs On Rome and Sacred Kingdom.

Most of these horses are champions in their own right in Hong Kong and rightly hold their elevated position in the history books.
